Before there was YouTube, before the Canon 5D and the RED and Supersize Me, there was Group101.

Five filmmakers agreed to make one short film every 30 days for six months. Each. Five years later, over 4000 short films were made by 750 filmmakers from across the whole big planet. We were the largest short film content generator in the world.

Kevin Smith (Clerks) Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo) and Joel Zwick (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) were each presented with the Group101Films OVATION Award in recognition for inspiring us to get off our asses every month.

Fun times were had by all.

AMC-TV commissioned several years worth of original short horror movies from Group101Films for their annual Halloween broadcasts. Hundreds of filmmakers from around the globe spent 30 days each summer creating boo scary movies that played on AMC-TV alongside horror movie classics.

Countless Group101 filmmakers racked up awards worldwide, including an Academy Award nomination. Group101Spots was created and mentored hundreds of emerging commercial directors, all 30 days at a time. And we're still going strong out there. Proof that nothing gets the job done better than a deadline.
